Why support a student?
The costs associated with providing an independent Elite sport and academic education are very high – currently it costs over £135,000 to fund each boarding pupil from Juniors to Seniors and £57,000 for Sixth Form courses over 2 years.
These are clearly large commitments, but represent an immensely worthwhile investment in helping Moorland students achieve their ambitions to become not just trained footballers, but ‘thinking’ footballers fully prepared for life. At any one time around 49% of pupils at Moorland benefit from some level of financial support. Receiving a Scholarship or Bursary to study at Moorland can transform the future of the pupil’s life and has the potential to become the springboard for a future career in Sport.
Scholarships and Bursaries
Traditionally awarded Scholarships are for a particular talent in Football and Bursaries are awarded on the basis of financial need. Awards have varying sizes. Supporters can contribute at any level to the general student Scholarship & Bursary Fund or in the case of gifts of £3,000 or more a Scholarship or Bursary Award can be established in the name of the donor, Charitable Trust or Company. Partial or full scholarships/bursaries can be funded on an annual basis or permanently endowed to create a lasting legacy that will encourage and support talented young people for generations to come.
A tremendously rewarding experience is supporting an annual or endowed Scholarship or Bursaries Award for benefactors who can gain personal insight into the education and training of the individual pupil/s they are supporting, through regular reports and the opportunity to attend student matches and training sessions.
