Moorland Football Elite & Academy

Structured Football Programmes

Elite Football

We have 2 tiers of Football at Moorland School. The ‘Elite Programme’ is a scheme focused on the development and identification of children who have the potential to progress within the sport.

Moorland Elite is available to all Boys and Girls in the school.

Typically the children are training for 6 hours / week with the full array of Moorland Coaches.

The ‘Elite Programme’ has been running at Moorland since 2002 under the tutelage of full time coach, Charlie Jackson. Coach Jackson instigates a balanced timetable where children are taken out from non-core subjects to access the programme. With the aid of Coach Jackson and his talented team, the children are encouraged to reach their full potential, develop their football skills and improve overall fitness.

Academy Football

The ‘Academy Programme’ looks at developing the child who may have the potential to become a professional footballer. The most talented and gifted children are taken from the ‘Elite Programme’ to develop their skills further. In fact, a number of children who access the ‘Academy Programme’ are currently signed to football clubs, including Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United, Preston North End, Blackpool, Preston North End and Accrington Stanley.

The children are challenged by professional driven drills over a typical 8 hour week. Whilst training and playing for Moorland School the children are exposed to CAT1 Academy Clubs and Scouts.

Football excursions are planned throughout the year to allow the children to experience Premiership facilities.

The coaches also offer an introduction to sports science and sports media.

Following on from the Academy Programme the children have the opportunity to access the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports whilst playing for the Blackburn Rovers Shadow Squad.

Overall, a true development scheme to spot talent and give the greatest opportunities to progress in the world of football.
