Moorland School Football Coaches
Charlie Jackson – Football Academy Manager
Not many Coaches can say that they have worked for 3 Premiership winning clubs, had their training sessions recorded by UEFA Training Ground, been acclaimed by numerous football icons and developed a unique and successful method of coaching.
Alongside underpinning the close friendship between Moorland School and Blackburn Rovers Football Club, Charlie is also a Development Coach for Manchester City FC and has recently been signed by the Scottish FA to lead their only English Elite Development Centre, which is based at Moorland.
We offer the same development ethos as any top Premier League club. Our emphasis is on development and creating well mannered and honest footballers who work as a team.
- Charlie Jackson - Football Academy Manager
Charlie aims to encourage young footballers to touch the ball as many times as possible during training drills. A willingness to improve technique and have the ball at their feet are prerequisites for any youngster taking part in a Matrix training session. The old coaching mantras of two-touch and one-touch are banned under the laws of Matrix methodology, as Charlie succinctly states, “Why limit the imagination of a player”.
Giulio Romano and Danny Morton
Joining Charlie Jackson are fellow MCFC Coaches Danny Morton and Goalkeeper Coach Giulio Romano.
Danny has worked alongside Charlie since 2013 as a Football Fitness Coach. Danny sets the same high fitness and physical expectations upon the players as he does upon himself. He knows that they will not make it at the highest levels within the game based on skill alone.
Giulio started out his career playing for Massa Lubrense Academy as a Youth Player before moving on to the U18’s First Team.
Studying Sports Science at the Parthenope University he completed a Degree in 2012 and immediately after trained for his UEFA B License in Italy with some of the best Coaches in the country.
Head of the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Programme is Martin Jones.

Whilst in the States Martin was appointed Director of Coaching of a major youth programme, overseeing the development of over 500 youngsters.
